2019 JDA Award Finalist & Winner - Jason Ree!
Did you know that Jason Ree is Australia’s most awarded jeweller?
And in August we had the privileged of being a finalist and winner in the JDA Jewellery Design Awards.
The Jewellery Design Awards (JDA) recognise both up-and-coming and well-established manufacturing jewellers and watch-making professionals for their creativity, passion and skill.

“Kikkou"
Jason was a finalist and overall winner of the Men’s Jewellery & Accessories category with his amazing creation “Kikkou”, a wedding ring made of individual Mokume Gane facets in 3 (of our 16 different) colour mixes: Iron Bark, Mallee and Acacia. Mokume Gane is the art of layering, fusing and patterning different metals.
Each random facet has been painstakingly matched and fitted together. An incredible colour-split freeform Australian Parti Sapphire completes the puzzle.

“Sandstorm”
We were also lucky enough to be finalists in the Australian Opal Award category with “Sandstorm”. These earrings feature a pair of perfectly matched solid black Australian Opals cut from the same piece of opal.
Evocative of the beach and the Australian coast, these earrings have a unique textured appearance.
Based on an ancient Tuscan technique of granulation that does not use solder, Jason has reinvented ‘micro-granulation’. This was done using tiny microscopic bits of 22ct gold, smaller than a grain of sand, to create a sand-like contrast.
